Hadith about Kindness to Parents
Hadith on honouring your mother and father, keeping family ties, and the gravity of disobeying them.
20 hadith
- The major sins are associating partners with Allah, undutifulness to parents, murder, and intentional false oath
- The one who severs the ties of kinship will not enter Paradise
- Whoever loves to have his sustenance expanded and his term of life prolonged should maintain his kinship ties
- None of you truly believes until I become dearer to him than his father, his children, and all people
- Then return to your parents and accompany them in a best way
- May his nose be rubbed in dust, then may his nose be rubbed in dust, and may his nose be rubbed in dust." It was said: "O Messenger of Allah, who? He said: "The one whose parents, one of them or both, reach old age in his life yet he does not enter Paradise
- O Messenger of Allah, who is the most entitled among people to my good companionship? He said: Your mother, then your mother, then your mother, then your father, and then those who are the closest to you
- It is one of the major sins when a man abuses his parents. It was asked: Would a man ever abuse his parents? He replied: Yes. He abuses the father of another man, who in return abuses his father, and he abuses his mother, and so the latter abuses the former’s mother
- Three will not enter Paradise: the habitual drinker of alcohol, the one who severs the ties of kinship, and the one who believes in sorcery
- Do not call a hypocrite a master, for if he is a master, you will have angered your Almighty Lord
- Go back to them and seek their permission. If they give you permission, you can engage in Jihad, otherwise, be dutiful to them
- He does not belong to us who does not show mercy to our young and honor our old
- The pleasure of Allah is in the pleasure of the parents, and the displeasure of Allah is in the displeasure of the parents
- Any Muslim who loses three of his children will not be touched by the Fire except in fulfillment of the oath
- The most rebellious of people against Allah, Exalted and Glorified, is someone who kills another in the sacred precincts of Allah
- The finest form of dutifulness is maintaining relations with those whom one’s father loved
- Verily, Ibrahīm is my son and he died as a suckling infant, and, verily, he has two wet nurses in Paradise completing his suckling period
- No Muslim invokes Allah with a supplication that does not involve sin or severing ties of kinship, except that Allah will grant him one of three: either His supplication will be answered soon, or He will save it for him in the Hereafter, or He will avert from him an equivalent amount of evil." They said: Then we should do more. He said: "Allah is even more
- May a man's nose be rubbed in dust who, when I am mentioned in his presence, does not invoke blessings upon me. And may a man's nose be rubbed in dust who witnesses the month of Ramadan, then it passes without him being forgiven. And may a man's nose be rubbed in dust who has both his parents reach old age with him, yet they do not cause him to enter Paradise
- I said: O Messenger of Allah, to whom should I be dutiful? he said: "Your mother, then your mother, then your mother, then your father, then the next in nearness and so on
