Hadith about Supplication & Remembrance

Hadith on the virtue of supplication, remembrance, glorification, and seeking forgiveness — how the heart stays connected to Allah.

24 hadith

• Whoever dies while invoking besides Allah another equal will enter Hellfire
• O son of Adam, so long as you call upon Me and ask of Me, I shall forgive you for what you have done, and I shall not mind. O son of Adam, were your sins to reach the clouds of the sky and were you then to ask forgiveness of Me, I shall forgive you
• Whoever says upon hearing the call: O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the prayer that is to be established, grant Muhammad Al-Wasīlah and Al-Fadīlah and resurrect him to the Praiseworthy Station that You have promised him, he will be granted my intercession on the Day of Judgment
• If you wish, be patient and you will enter Paradise; or, if you wish, I will supplicate Allah to cure you
• The supplication of a Muslim for a fellow Muslim in his absence is answered
• O people, do not trouble yourselves too much. He Whom you are calling is not deaf or absent. Verily, He is with you, He is All-Hearing and Ever Near
• No Muslim regularly attends the mosques to perform prayer and remember Allah, but Allah is delighted for him just as the family of one who was away, is delighted upon his return
• In prayer, nothing of people's ordinary speech is allowed. Only Tasbīh, Takbīr, and recitation of the Qur'an are allowed
• Keep your tongue moist with the remembrance of Allah
• The best dhikr is lā ilāha illa Allah (there is no god but Allah), and the best supplication is Alhamdulillah (praise be to Allah)
• A Muslim owes another Muslim five rights: returning the greeting of peace, visiting the sick, following the funeral processions, accepting invitations, and saying tashmīt (yarhamuk Allah) (may Allah show mercy to you) to the person who sneezes
• The nearest a slave to his Lord is while he is prostrating, so increase supplication
• Supplication is worship
• Nothing is more honorable in the sight of Allah Almighty than supplication
• Whoever alights somewhere and then says: '‘A‘ūdhu bi kalimātillāh at-tāmmāti min sharri ma khalaq (I seek refuge in the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He has created)', nothing will harm him until he leaves that place
• The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) would often say: "O Turner of the hearts, make my heart firm upon Your religion
• Do not supplicate against yourselves, do not supplicate against your children, and do not supplicate against your property, lest you do it at a time in which Allah answers all supplications so you will be granted what you asked for
• Your supplication is answered as long as one of you is not in haste, saying: I have supplicated to my Lord, but He has not yet answered me
• No people leave a gathering in which they did not remember Allah except that it will be as if they are leaving the carcass of a donkey, and it will be a cause of regret for them
• By Allah! I ask Allah for forgiveness and repent to Him more than seventy times a day
• Supplication between the Adhān (call to prayer) and the Iqāmah (second call to prayer) is not rejected
• The supplication that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) recited most was: "Allāhumma rabbana ātina fi ad-dunya hasanah wa fi al-ākhirati hasanah wa qina ‘adhāb an-nār (O Allah our Lord, give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good and protect us from the torment of the Fire)
• There are three supplications that will undoubtedly be answered: the supplication of the oppressed
• Say: O Allah, guide me and make me adhere to the straight path, and when asking for Huda (guidance), think of your being guided to the right path, and Sadād (adherence to the straight path) is the straightness of the arrow
