Narrated by Abu Dāwūd, An-Nasā’i, and Ibn Mājah · Authentic

“‘Ali ibn Abi Tālib (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) took silk in his right hand and gold in his left hand and then lifted them with his hands and said: "Theseits women."”

Explanation

The Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) took a silk garment or a piece of it in his left hand and took gold, jewelry or something similar, in his right hand. Then, he said: Silk and gold are forbidden for men to wear. As for women, they are permissible for them.
