ONE HADITH A DAY

The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade ‘Uthmān ibn Mazh‘ūn to be celibate. If he had given him permission we would have castrated ourselves

Narrated by Bukhari & Muslim · Authentic hadith

عن سعد بن أبي وقاص رضي الله عنه قال: رد رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم على عثمان بن مظعون التَّبَتُّلَ، ولو أذن له لاختَصَيْنَا.

“Sa‘d ibn Abi Waqqās (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) forbade ‘Uthmān ibn Mazh‘ūn to be celibate. If he had given him permission we would have castrated ourselves.”
