ONE HADITH A DAY
Narrated by Al-Bukhāri and Muslim · Authentic
عَنْ أُمِّ المُؤْمِنِينَ أُمِّ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَائِشَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، قَالَتْ: قَالَ: رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم: «مَنْ أَحْدَثَ فِي أَمْرِنَا هَذَا مَا لَيْسَ مِنْهُ فَهُوَ رَدٌّ». وَفِي رِوَايَةٍ لِمُسْلِمٍ: «مَنْ عَمِلَ عَمَلًا لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْرُنَا فَهُوَ رَدٌّ».
“The Mother of the Believers, ’Umm ‘Abdullah ‘Ā’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Whoever introduces something into this matter of ours that is not part of it will have it rejected." A version by Muslim reads: "Whoever does an action that is not part of this matter of ours will have it rejected."”
