ONE HADITH A DAY

Whoever reports a Hadīth on my authority that is thought to be false is one of the two liars

Narrated by Muslim in his introduction · Authentic

عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدَبٍ وَالْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ رضي الله عنهما قَالَا: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ حَدَّثَ عَنِّي بِحَدِيثٍ يُرَى أَنَّهُ كَذِبٌ، فَهُوَ أَحَدُ الْكَاذِبِينَ».

“Samurah ibn Jundab and Al-Mughīrah ibn Shu‘bah (may Allah be pleased with both of them) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever reports a Hadīth on my authority that is thought to be false is one of the two liars."”
